The wax is for the metal sticking out at the back of the last tooth the braces are on. Just make a small pea sized ball and stick it to the pointy end of the wire so it doesn't cut your cheek.
It can also be used at night over any brace that is agitating the inside of your mouth.
Usually after about a week you should be feeling better but every time you get them tightened it will hurt for a day or two but not as bad as when you first got them put on!
I had braces for many many years and believe me it is so worth it to have nice teeth for the rest of your life!!

Actually the wax is for any area that the tissue in your mouth is getting sore from the wires, brackets, or bands rubbing. Just pinch a little piece off and stick it on the bracket or the rough area.
It should stay on for awhile or until you drink, eat or brush, then you may need to put more on. Try not to push or rub your lips or cheeks against the braces.
You can eat normal when your teeth settle down a bit, usually after a few days or a week you can get back close to normal, with the exception of the foods the orthodontists said to avoid. Don't push it though or you will keep your teeth sore and yourself wondering if your going to starve and if it's all worth it! You can still eat things that you love and that are soft but good, pasta, spaghetti, lasagna, fettuccine, soups, even tender meats like grilled chicken or pork tenderloin. Try cutting things up in small bites so it's easier to chew. It helps a lot believe me. Before too long you'll be eating pizza and burgers again, cut them up when you first try them though.
It takes a little time to get used to them, just give yourself a break and you'll see! In the end it will all be worth it so keep your chin up! Keep up with the brushing and flossing, even though it stings a little right now. It helps keep the tissue in good condition while your teeth are shifting and prevents you from having added pain from your gums being swollen and bleeding.
Hope I've been of some help to you. Good luck and CONGRAT'S on the new braces!

The wax is to cover the sharp metal edges. The area of your cheeks and behind your lips will become raw from the sharp edges of the braces. Put the wax over the braces that start to irritate the back of your lips or inside your cheeks. Until you form calluses or tougher flesh in these areas they will become irratated. Good luck and someday you will be smiling pretty. ;0)

wax is for when you have a sharp edge on your braces, it's to reduce the # of poking and discomfort in your mouth.when i had braces, after i got my bands(rubber bands) the wire where you put them on jabbed the side of my cheek all day just put it on the bracket and you should be fine. you can either brush it off or try to remove it with your fingers.
i don't know what you mean by eating normal, the first couple of days your teeth will be really sore. best stick to soups and softer foods. but even after your teeth feel better don't eat hard foods(e.x. apples(whole, you need to cut them up) even if you love the crust of the pizza don't eat it cuz i broke 2 brackets on that, stay away from sticky foods(gumy bears, sour patch kids, the chewy airhead thingys just don't do it, and carmel is a no way.)
hope that helped

the wax is used to mold over any spot on the braces that is rubbing and making sore any spot inside your mouth..you nip off a small piece and warm it between two clean fingers until its soft and malable...then you push it onto the offending spot on the braces....use enough to cover the rough spot and you will get relief from the irritation...each person is different eating wise...if you are on day three...you should be over the worst..probably day 4 or 5 for eating normally...take some advil and know that it will pass...besides...you're gonna have a super smile!!!

The wax is used for the wire if it bothers you. Just take a small piece
of the wax and place it on the spot where the wire is annoying you. It really helps.

the wax is for temporary relief if you feel the braces scrapping the inside of your mouth. you can eat 'normal' pretty much when you feel up to it. everything has to be in small chunks, no nuts, candy and all the stuff they told you to avoid.

The wax is to put over the brackets, so they don't hurt your mouth. You can have sugerless gum, and anything that isn't sticky or hard.
