The only reason why Ouija boards are so notoriously known as "a portal to Hell" is because of Hollywood, and the "Witchboard" movies, and other lame movies like it. If Ouija boards are capable of serving as a divination tool, they most likely work by the subconscious mind acting on the divinator's muscles so subtly as to cause muscle responses that the person is themself unaware of. I honestly doubt there are evil spirits out there just waiting for some hapless teenager to go to Wal-Mart and purchase a Ouija board made by the good folks who brought you Monopoly, inadvertently opening a gateway to the Netherworld, which somehow Wal-Mart was protected from, and then stepping into the material world to wreak their vengeance upon the hapless mortals who freed them from their bondage in the black pit of Tartarus, where they of course, have an endless supply of Ouija-board Stargates. In my opinion, you're safe, no matter what you do.

OK... the mediums of the 1800s used a round table, letters on cards placed in a circle around the talbe and a wine glass as a planchette.

It makes no difference what the "shape". Take a look on line and you will see lots of different styles of "talking boards". Ouija, by the way, is a "brand name". They are called "talking boards".

Now... what evil spirits? Are you talking about my very wicked Uncle Arthur who just can't keep his hands off the girlies? To be honest, he's a spirit now... he can't touch a thing; so I'm not sure he's the one you are talking about.

Spirits... are that. No substance. So how, exactly, are they going to "hurt" you, evil or not.

What you should be careful of is lies. Whatever a person was in life, he will be in death. Was s/he a compulsive liar? A practical joker? A sick puppy with a taste for the more extreme or distasteful. That will come across in discussions and you should be aware that it could get rated XXX quickly if you call up the wrong spirit.

We all have guides; use your own. They will direct traffic on the other side so you get the right party. Silver coins... no, wait, that's silver bullets for werewolfs. No, silver coins are not of any consequence here, they are just so much window dressing.

Be focused, be calm, know who you are calling, and be sure to have someone outside the circle writing all this down. Document the whole reading. It makes it so much easier to recall what was discussed. And they can write easier if they are not in the circle working the board. That's why they are outside the action.

Do not fear, because the only thing you have to be afraid of here is your wild imagination. You are asking spirits to speak to you. If they do, what did you expect?

The talking board is a tool. It is not a conduit, you are. The spirit moves your hand. The spirit talks through you. You are not possessed; it does not take you over. It is like automatic writing, you write down what your subconscious hears. In talking boards, your hands move the glass to the letters of your discussion in your subconscious. Allow it to flow. You can not be possessed unless you want to be. Really. No kidding. And this is not possession.

So, have a good time, approach it as you would all workings; you have a tool and you are using it to your best advantage. If the spirits talk to you, do not be surprised. And if Uncle Arthur makes a pass at one of the ladies... tell him I said - hi you dirty old man!

You can write the letters in any way you want to. I have tried make one in several different ways and it worked each time. I do not know about the silver dollar, but I suggest that you do protection spells before using you board. There are several good sites for this on the internet.

It doesn't matter, all you're going to end up with is a toy. Put the symbols wherever you want.
