I also heard that lightening you hair with peroxide is better than using most store bought hair dyes. Is this true and is there anything special you have to do when lightening your hair using peroxide?

yes it will lighten your hair, but it's best to do it gradually. don't try to get your hair five shades lighter in one day. put a little bit in every day or every other day (especially if you're going out into the sun for a long period of time). or you could mix some peroxide into a nice leave in conditioner. it might take even longer to lighten, but you won't dry out your hair as much.

Peroxide is not good for your hair and yes many people do lighten with peroxide however i have done it and my hair was normal when i did it and it killed it. just put it on your hair and comb it through.

Yes it does BLEACH it, but no, its definitely NOT better for your hair. I did it once, and I swear I'll never do it again.
