barbequed goat at my spanish neighbors birthday party! I tried a small bite and it actually was quite delicious, so I made a couple sandwiches and washed it down with five or six beers.

First of all....take a deep breath and calm down.... They will bring you into the hospital and put you on the fetal monitors. They are little (about 3" disks) that lie on your belly and are held on by a band. One tells the contractions, the other the baby's heart rate. You will be monitored for about 20 minutes or so to determine if you are contracting. If you are, it may change the course of how they induce you. If you are contracting alot, they will wait to see if your cervix is changing. If it isn't they will probably add pitocin in your IV. Initially, you shouldn't even notice it. As you start to contract, it will become uncomfortable and then painful. Please decide how you are going to deal with that pain before you get to the hospital. Most places offer both IV medications and epidurals to assist with this. If you are not contracting, they will place the gel against your cervix to soften it and start your contractions. Again, as you start to contract you can expect discomfort progressing to pain as time goes on. Putting the gel in shouldn't be any more uncomfortable than putting an intravaginal cream inside.

Chicken feet--no, not chicken legs. The actual feet with the toenails still on. They were fried. Some southerners eat these (ok, southern folks--don't get testy. I can say that, as I was born, raised and still live in the good ol' South). Anyway, I knew that some people did eat them, although I had never tried them, personally. I will try ALMOST anything once--so yes. I tasted them, but I would have to be really hungry to belly up to a plateful of them. I just politely explained that I did not care for them, but ate heartily of the other things on the table. No one seemed offended.

Deep fried cow's nerves, called nervetti in Italy. Looked like hash browns from McDonald's. Felt so sick the next day as did every other guest and the hosts. Gross!

Haggis. And if you don't know what it is, well, it is sheep's 'pluck' (heart, liver and lungs), minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt, mixed with stock, and traditionally boiled in the animal's stomach for approximately an hour. And, yes, I did eat it. But, what was really strange was that someone in the group asked for vegetarian haggis.

I went to my dad's friend's house (he's Chinese)on Christmas day and everything was good until dessert. His wife served a type of hot sweet broth with sticky rice balls and weird unknown fruit. It was extremely hot and disgusting. I told her that it was wonderful but my stomache had enough culture for one day.
