when my boyfriend talks to me about his probloms (with family or friends..) should i just listen or give advice? for example..he has a problom with his fathers new wife..i said to talk to him. should i have said that or just listened? its hard for me to just sit their when i KNOW hes making a mistake! Advice or just listen?

It really depends. If it's something that's really bothering him constantly, just listen because that's what he wants, someone to listen to him so he wouldn't have to put up with it all by himself. If it's nothing big, give some advice so the little problem would be gone before it goes any worse.

i find listening is better than giving advice in those touchy situations. If you give him the wrong advice, it could put a pinch on your relationship. and also, if you give your opinion, when it is negative, he may in time resent it. Play your cards right and just lend an ear on this one. Let him vent. We all need it sometimes. be a friend, not a therapist. GL

If you care about him listen until the end, and make sure he understands that you understand how he feels, then give him a suggestion on what you might do in that situation. Maybe say "I know how you feel, and always know i care about you. Would you wanna know what i would try in that situation? Because i would love to help you with this." if he says yes, give him your help and advice. if not, let it go and say "OK, wanna go

Advice, definitely give him advice. I can't stand it when I'm talking to girls and they just listen instead of giving input. I mean the whole reason I'm talking to them is to hear what they have to say. So you should definitely give him advice.

I think you should offer advice. When men and women talk about their problems, they are looking for two different things. Men talk about their problems because they are looking for another point view to help solve the problem. Women usually talk about their problems to vent and express their frustration with whatever the problem is (unless they specifically ask for solutions, the guy should keep his mouth shut and just listen to her)

u did good in giving him advice. thats what you do when you want to help someone. there is a time to just listen to a problem and sympathise. but not always, and you'll know when he'll want your opinion. if not, just by asking him if he wants to know what you think.

well if you know hes making a mistake tell him . . . he will feel you love him more if you try to give him advice rather then just sitting there listeing saying mmhhmmm. . ..
