Prefer to stay in East Bay, but am willing to drive to SF or Marin if there is a particularly good office. I am going for a driving learner's permit.

If you are a AAA member, you can do a ton of your DMV stuff at a AAA office, and avoid the long lines at the DMV. But you HAVE to be a member--it's one of the benefits. Go to csaa.com to locate the nearest AAA office to you in the bay area.

If you're a AAA member, the San Francisco office (Van Ness Avenue) of AAA has DMV office. It's a great time saver for AAA members. The line is extremely short!!

I've had good luck at Daly City. But really, make an appointment. It makes all the difference.
