if you are looking for a cheap one, go to a gun show and check them out. i was at one 2 weeks ago, and i saw a few 9mm's and .38's for as low as $100. it depends on how nice of a gun you want. i have saw hi-points for around $200. also try impactguns.com they have alot of guns, and they seem to be pretty cheap. if you dont want to order a gun online, atleast you can compare them.

Skip the confusion, if the high point 9 costs 300, then an even better one will run you 400-600. This is going to depend on use, automatics aren't really high-priced.

I am from Dayton, OH (location of MKS Supply, aka HIPOINT) and thos eguns are $150 biker/redneck pistols that cannot even be conventionally fieldstripped. They start at $150 shelf-price. If you guys pay $300 then you are suckers.

A Glock 9mm goes for about $500. Don't settle for anything less than Glock Perfection.
