Abraham was a Jew because he had entered into the covenant with G-d. He was circumcised and so was his son, Isaac, which is a sign of the covenant between the Jews and G-d. Abram wasn't. Judaism was in its earliest stages then, but he was a Jew all the same. He just had less laws to follow, per se.

Abraham is one of the best-known people of the Bible. He's a key figure in the history of both the Jewish and Arab people. He was the great-grandfather of Judah, whose descendants became known as the Jews, and he was also the father of Ishmael, from whom many of the Arab people are descended. Abraham was a Hebrew, and although the ancestor of both, Abraham himself was neither Jew nor Arab.

Not really. The "Jews" were named for their forfather Judah.

Judah was one of the sons of Jacob/Isreal who was the grandson of Abraham.

Judaism didn't exist yet. It was in it's earliest stages in his time. the law wasn't formed until Moses and festivals, circumcision, etc. wasn't developed yet.
