As a former Probation Officer, some of this may have to do with when he was got the ticket. Was it before or after he was placed on probation. It is a small matter, considering what he is on probation for, but just the same it is another charge. You said that he reported to his PO as directed, which is good. From what you write it doesn't sound like he will be violated. I think that he will just have to make sure that he tells the PO about what is going on. He needs to take responsibility for the ticket.

I know that this is hard to believe but the Probation Officer isn't there to make his life miserable, just be up front with the Officer.

It depends on his PO, how he has been doing while he is on probation, and what he wsa on probation for.

More than likely his PO will not revoke his probation for a simple failure to appear. However, the PO is within full rights to do this. If he is on probation for something rather small, has kept up with his fees, and has revoked before, I'm sure that the PO won't revoke him

Good luck.

How long has he been on probation, will be one thing they look at. Most likely he will just get his probation extended. Good luck and hope it works out for both of you.

Take him to Troy to talk to a judge unless he can post bail.

He needs to take care of his current problems and OBEY THE LAW! Do this and he will find peace with "The Man".
