I agree with those who say, if you like it, then it is a nice name.
Here is some additional perspective to consider: There are many names that are originally male names with a feminine suffix added: Paul-ette, Don-ette, Antoine-ette (one 'e' gets dropped on this one,) etc., and I don't personally like names that are making a male name fit for a girl. It always seemed to me that either the parents wanted a boy and had to make do, or it is another subjugation of females. (That one might be taking it a bit far, I admit, but that is how the practice strikes me.) I also don't like the use of boy's names as girl's names, like Ryan, Kennedy, etc., but that is just my opinion. Many on this site love that approach, which takes me right back to my first sentence, and my agreement with others giving you the same feedback.

It is funny that we go through life with a name we did not choose, but it is ours nonetheless. I have named three human beings, and I considered it a monumental responsibility.

Out of Paulette, Hortense, and Agrippa, I can honestly say I like Paulette best.

I see nothing wrong with the name Paulette. Look at it this way, it could have been MUCH worse! Just ask Bertha, Melba or Verna.

Well........................ Who are you naming paulette? Your dog? Who? If its a person and you like this name then its your decision, if you like it from your point of view, GOOD. But if others don't like it, who cares. Its about you
