Okay, so I'm 4 months along...and Doc says my BP is too high 140/92. Usually this is normal for me...well it's what I was before I got pregnant anyway 140 over 90. Then when I got pregnant it went down to 130/82 or something like that...now it is back up and the doc is worried. She put me on a BP med and told me that most people who have hypertension will be on bedrest sometime during their pregnancy. This has me really scared. I don't want to be on bedrest. Is there anything I can do to get it lower? (Besides taking the medication) Has anyone else had to deal with this?

Dear Cabbage Patch,
Usually when you have high blood pressure, you can feel really uncomfortable. I know how that feels and I know how to deal with it without medication. When you have a blood pressure spike, when it is at its highest, you might try a citrus soda, such as 7UP or Sierra Mist, but get yourself a lemon, a lime, and an orange.
Pour the soda into a large glass. Then cut the fruit in half and squeeze half of each into the soda. Be sure and hold each half up to your nose and really take a good whiff. Then drink the soda.
What this does, citrus juices, citrus oils, they naturally relax and expand your arteries and all your blood vessels and that means your blood pressure goes down. The effect usually lasts a few hours. Another thing you can do is replace your salt with seasalt. Seasalt comes in the same kind of container, but costs about twice as much. However, sea salt is 70 percent lower in sodium which raises your blood pressure. Just doing this, most people end up off of blood pressure meds. Hope I've helped!

wow-
did you let your doctor know that that is your 'norm'?
everyones bp rises a little during pregnancy in the second trimester +.
is she only checking it once a month now at your appts?
if so it could be that you are subconsciencely anxious about your appts-so when they check your bp-it's raised.
when you are at home just doing normal stuff--do you feel your heart race or anything?

I guess if she gave you meds you should take them--she knows your medical bkg. best.
I dont think your bp is high though-especially since that is norm for you.

my bp was always 120/80-or a point or 2 off. the first 3 months I was pregnant--mine went VERY low- 90/50--92/54
then in my second trimester--it went back to what my normal ususally was.
I wasnt on any kinds of meds or anything.

good luck--sorry, I dont know what else to say.

BP fluctuates during pregnancy. Unless the fluctuation is abnormal - you should not really worry - as this leads to further increase in the bp - why don't you visit this website - for better and correct info -
