After the death of President Gerald Ford, I thought that flags stay at half mast for only a week, and I watch the post office and they still fly theirs at half mast.

30 days for a president. He died 12/26.

Great Question. It tells me that you LOVE our country and want to be respectful of "Old Glory".

The short answer is: The President of the United States calls the shots on this one. The proclamation given was 60 days for Gerald Ford.
