I have a Fossil watch and it has the metal band. Well, in the back there is a latch to lock the watch on. I was taking a break from doing work and just happened to look down at my watch and notice how dirty it was. I then took a toothpick and put it down in the latch and this dust looking stuff came out (I assume it's my skin cell build up due to years of wearing the watch and never cleaning it). Do you clean your watch?

So how do you clean a watch? Take a little scrubby brush and wash it?

Its not gross its just the way metal bands will get if not cleaned. I use an old toothbrush and soap and warm water on the clasp and enough of the band being careful not to get on the watch part itself to clean mine. Just daily wearing it over a period of time will cause the collection to build up under there so don't put yourself down so much. Now you know, and can clean it now.
Life has enough to worry about than finding a dirty watch.

This is actually pretty normal if you don't clean your watch often. It's an accumulation of dirt, etc. from everyday wear. You can take it to any watch store or department store jewelry department to get it cleaned.

I actually clean mine with an old toothbrush and toothpaste. Toothpaste works really good when cleaning silver or metal. It will get all the dirt off and get it looking new again. You can also buy jewelry cleaner from any store and clean it with that.

You know what I usually wear different watches depending in the outfit. I had a friend who had a funky film on her watch and I was like you need to clean the before you get a rash. Now out of habit I clean my jewelry before I wear it even my watch. I use cleaner I got from the jewelry store it's hypoallergenic.

why are people like
"GROOOSSSS"
your title said "this is kind of gross" so there shouldn't be any surprises..dayum.

That buildup was probably dead skin cells and dirt (not saying your dirty, just wearing a watch constantly can cause you to sweat, and the watch will trap/collect most of the weird stuff)

I don't wear watches for prolonged amounts of time.

I would suggest you clean it regularly with whatever solution the manufacturers suggest.

goodluck! its only normal, not gross

How gross! If the watch is water proof get a brush to scrub with and spray some disinfect or and rinse if you want to put Downy so it could be soft and smell good this is what I always do to my watch.

Yeah, it's probably dead skin and some dirt and grime. You could always use an old toothbrush to clean it with too. Best of luck to you.
