ok, so i really want to paint a wall in my apartment, but i may be moving in a few months so i dont want to spend the time and money just to have to repaint it in 6 months, so i was thinking of getting a canvas, or something, and painting what i want on that. I want it to be about 6 feet by 6 feet, any suggestions on what type of material i should paint on as opposed to the walls? and how much do you think it would cost?

I'd build it myself- get the size side strips you want and then stretch canvas over it.... try art supply stores.... that's the best way and most cost efficient

Are you going to paint a picture (mural) or were thinking of just painting the wall an accent color? If you're going for an accent color thing just buy the fabric in the pattern or color you want and staple away...from behind of course.
If you're NOT artistic or an experienced painter, I would just go buy a poster of what you want and in the size you want. Then have it 'drymounted' and then textured with a clear gel medium. There are oversized prints on on-line shopping sites and any custom frame shop can do the rest. Looking at tops $175.00-$250.00 plus the price of the print.

If the paint is used very diluted, so that the canvas is just stained, you could fold it. However, it would be better if you roll it. Keep the painted side on the outside of the roll. If it cracks, the cracked edges will come back together when the painting is flattened out again.

I knew an artist who painted on large pieces of canvas with galeria acrylics (fluid kind of acrylic). You could just paint on the canvas itself by pinning or taping it to the wall and then when you move just roll it up as acrylics are flexible I don't advise rolling up oil paintings they are quite brittle.Look online ,I've bought canvas from currys.com for about $2 a foot.

Go to any home depot and buy masonitr, fiber board gesso it and paint anything you want on it. The boards 4x8 feet will run you about $10 each bucket of gesso $20. It is sturdy attach with screws to wall and you are done.
Canvas will run yo more but you can buy it in pregessoed pieces of about six feet by three yards at about $50 bucks and up. but you will have to buy supports or make them your self about $20.
good luck
