Are these normal side effects for a person who is using Zoloft? I want to know if I should contact my doctor. Also, I'm a 16 year old girl taking 25mg tablets, if that matters any.

Nausea, loss of appetite, insomnia, dizziness (not experienced when standing up quickly, rather when sitting down for a long period of time), vivid and strange dreams, and occasional headaches.

Thanks!

I have a few answers for you, not all. The nausea comes from taking your dosage on an empty stomach. I wouldn't worry about loss of appetite, the Zoloft helps against compulsive eating and allows you to eat when you're hungry not on someone else's schedule.

Dreaming is healthy. The dizziness from sitting sounds like a blood pressure issue--definitely tell the Doctor about it.

And, the mystery of the headaches. I found that by increasing my dosage the headaches disappeared.

Hello,
I take zoloft. These symptoms you mentioned are common side effects for some people taking this drug. I take 1 100mg tablet every day.

The only time i experience headaches is if i forget to take it on any given day. So make sure you take it everyday. You may wish to contact your doctor about these side effects.

I love this drug, as it allow's me to sleep very soundly at night, without it i could be up for days at a time.

My advice to you is stay with the tapering slowly, you might have tapered down too fast. How long have you been on this medication makes all the difference in the tapering phase. If you have been on it for 1 year then you will need 1 month to completely taper off, general 1 month for every year you have been on it and if your taking other medication can affect this too. These pills can be broken easily, it's called Serotonin Whithdrawal Phase or discontinuation syndrome, not easy my friend but not as bad as say opiate, or benzodiazepine withdrawal. Rule of thumb, 1 month for every year you have been on this medication. Talk to your doctor about it, maybe you need to go back to 50mg for at least 2 weeks and see if that makes a difference. I have done this many times, so i know how the game is played very well, Paxil and Effexor are the worst to get off, trust me don't ever go on either one, see ya and probably go back up to 50mg and stay there minimum for 2 weeks if you feel better you tapered too quickly.

I had similar and had to stop taking it. Here is a whole bunch of people's experiences good and bad.

P.S. All antidepressants have side effects in the first few weeks that go away. I found zoloft to be the worst and lexapro to be the best.

Yes they are common side effects of Zoloft and many other anti-depressants, as long as they don't persist over a long period of time. Once your body adjusts to the medication then the side effects should subside. If they do not or if they get worse you should definitely talk to your doc about.
