I've been doing 100 3 x a week. Is this enough? If not how many should I do?

Hmm. My gymnastics teacher suggests a new kind of sit-up. They're not crunches-they're V-ups. Lie down on the floor with your arms and legs straight out. Bring your arms and legs up and to the center of your body, keeping them straight, so that you look like a "V" or a check mark. Then bring your body flat onto the floor again, but make sure you put your hands and feet down lightly without making a big bang (this takes more muscle work).

This is an extremely difficult kind of sit-up. I did twenty and started tiring. Good luck!

First off, what's your goal? Six pack abs? Second, what's your current condition? Do you have much weight to lose around the middle? Crunches absolutely work, but there are several different types of crunches that work on different abdominal muscles, so a combination of all of them would be optimum. If you don't have a belly to lose, then you should start seeing results within a few weeks. if you did them everyday, you would probably see results like in a week. If you have belly fat to lose then it will obviously take longer to see results, but you will eventually see them. 100 a day is good for one type of crunch. Look up the different types and maybe do one type one night and a different another night. Good luck.

What are you trying to accomplish? If you're trying to get a six-pack, then crunches are a good start, but you also have to cardio because there is most likely a layer of fat covering your ab muscles. Crunches won't get the fat off; they only tighten the muscles. Cardio is the best method to lose the fat, and then you should be able to see your muscles.

I have done cardio and I have done yoga and pilates. all at variying degrees, for different periods of time, and with different combos. All definitely work. Now though I concentrate more on toning. I do crunches with that. My favorites are reverse and the bicycle. I have problems with super flab stomach after 2 c-sections. the reverse crunches helped with that majorly and the bicycle is bringing my hourglass figure back.
