This isn't a philosophical question... and no, it is not North Korea.

Any smart people on here? (Don't answer that)

I know that we don't occupy Germany, and this question was on an entry exam taken by my cousin for the Air Force... so apparently, the U.S. still thinks that we occupy Aghanistan. I am talking about having active troops stationed there and in control... my definition of occupation.

Several of my friends also believe that Haiti is another one... which I agree with.

The term is a technicality, because while we do occupy four countries, nobody really thinks of any of them as a traditional occupation.

the four countries are (in order of date of occupation beginning):
Germany
Japan
Afghan
Iraq

To the above poster, average Germans and Americans may not consider it an occupation and there is a SOFA agreement, but legally it is still considered an occupation.

EDIT: By "your definition" the USA occupies no countries.

I hate the be conscious "occupy". i've got spoke back this question various different circumstances and its purely an excellent puppy-peeve of mine. in terms of world regulation a rustic is barely "occupied" against its will and after protection tension conflict. In that know, u.s. purely "occupies" Iraq and Afghanistan; till for sure you had to count extensive type Germany, Italy, and Japan between those international locations being defeated in worldwide conflict 2. u.s. has basing rights in extra effective than 150 international locations that span the completed worldwide. those basing rights are given to u.s. for various motives; each and every so often economic incentives, different circumstances its together effective as contained related to Japan and South Korea who're secure by using our bases against North Korea, besides the shown fact that it additionally serves to furnish u.s. severe strategic leverage interior the Korean peninsula.

The only countries we occupy is Iraq and Afganistan, just because we have bases in the country doesnt mean we occupy it, thos are the only two countries we are in battle in.

None.

Now if you mean where are troops deployed on foreign soil - that's different, and I'm pretty sure there are more than 4 countries.

Be careful not to count embassies or military bases within foreign borders that are on American soil.
