When you give someone your time and attention by really listening to them, you are showing them that they have value to you, that they are worthy of your time and attention. It doesn't matter whether or not you can solve their problem or offer advice. What matters is that you care enough to HEAR what they are saying.

Try explaining how that it is true, you can include such things as
if people talk enough they can eventually solve their own problems, or say how that people have a natural instict to want reassurance when they are about to do something important...
Just add your own touch, brainstorm, do a couple of freewrites on your own expierences talking (or listening) to a friend having a problem.
