My bf recently moved a little less than 1 hr away. He is miserable b/c he can't see me, and it's frustrating the hell out of him. It's frustrating to me, too, but the move had to be made (just so you know there was no other option). We haven't reached a decision on if I'm relocating yet - how can I make things better in the meantime? For the weekends we DO have together, how can I make them extra special? I have an idea for our course of action, but I don't want to bring it up b/c I want it to be his idea.
Signed,
FRUSTRATED

You want it to be his idea... while that is a very romantic sentiment, it's impractical. If you have an idea that you think might work, you should express it. As for making your weekends extra special, I have a bit of cliched advice for you:

Happiness is not found, it is accepted.

If you simply relish your time together and enjoy every moment, it doesn't matter what you do. The time you have may never be enough, but at least you won't have to think it was wasted.

By the way, only being an hour away means that if you dedicated only 2 hours every day, the two of you could make a roughly half hour trip every evening/afternoon/morning (whatever is convenient), spend and hour together eating a nice meal or hanging out or whatever, and then spend another half hour going home. It may only be an hour, but it would be every day.

If you two truly Love each other ,there is only two things you can not change in life taxes and death. so ,what ever you do when you together is special because your together. If you both are long term committed to each other ,then whats the stress over something that's temporary,la year from now it will not be that bad.Things change for the better with a little sacrifices along the way.Good luck.

Why does it have to be his idea? Maybe suggest a "half way point" where you two could meet, then let him come up with the details. Less than an hour away? Doesn't seem that far to me at all. Sounds like my old commute into work; not a big deal.

Well it doesn't seem too bad, i mean you could still see each other at the weekend, just do/say everything you can to make him feel special, always remind him that you love him, you can talk on the phone too, it's not THAT bad don't pull your hair out, lol
