Christianity and respect are terms that are diabolically opposed.
And for Utuk above me....you have your numbers reversed....it is only 2% or so of the christians in the world that are respectful and sincere...the other 98% are on the whole horrible to have to deal with. FundMENTALism is a contagious dis-ease.

Fair question. Now tell me why the three hebrews would not bow down and worship the image of gold in this Scripture, Okay?
At that time Neb·u·chad·nez′zar, in a rage and fury, said to bring in Sha′drach, Me′shach and A·bed′ne·go. Consequently these able-bodied men were brought in before the king. 14 Neb·u·chad·nez′zar was answering and saying to them: “Is it really so, O Sha′drach, Me′shach and A·bed′ne·go, that YOU are not serving my own gods, and the image of gold that I have set up YOU are not worshiping? 15 Now if YOU are ready so that when YOU hear the sound of the horn, the pipe, the zither, the triangular harp, the stringed instrument, and the bagpipe and all sorts of musical instruments, YOU fall down and worship the image that I have made, [all right]. But if YOU do not worship, at that same moment YOU will be thrown into the burning fiery furnace. And who is that god that can rescue YOU out of my hands?”
16 Sha′drach, Me′shach and A·bed′ne·go answered, and they were saying to the king: “O Neb·u·chad·nez′zar, we are under no necessity in this regard to say back a word to you. 17 If it is to be, our God whom we are serving is able to rescue us. Out of the burning fiery furnace and out of your hand, O king, he will rescue [us]. 18 But if not, let it become known to you, O king, that your gods are not the ones we are serving, and the image of gold that you have set up we will not worship.” -Daniel 3:13-18
Did not the 3 Hebrews know that it would be against the Mosaic Law to bow down and do an act of worship to the Image the the King had set up? Why didn't they just say "okay, cool....we'll do it"?
The worshipped the True God, believed that and was willing to die for it........but they didn't have to, did they?
Please remember just because some religious organizations wave a Bible in the air and do this and do that doesn't mean they have God's backing or spirit. It also doesn't nullify that the Bible is true just because they say they follow the teachings but do not.

It's that darned mandate at the end of Matthew about going "forth to teach all nations". Some Christians are afraid that if they allow other people to believe and worship as they wish, they're not doing their jobs. Obviously, if these people had been evangelized properly, they couldn't help but convert, so the would-be missionary keeps on trying, regarding the "no thank yous" as the work of the devil.

It depends on the Christian. The Roman Catholic Church will neither deny nor denounce truth and goodness that is spoken by other religions / philosophies. Can't remember offhand if that is from the Vat II documents or a quote from JP II.
Individuals are, well, individual. I can tell you that for myself and my family, we do our best to respect the beliefs of others, even if we disagree. (Some do better than others.)

Christians are supposed to love all people - even people with whom they disagree - actually ESPECIALLY people with whom they disagree.
But that doesn't mean that you have to respect something they do or believe that hurts them. If someone had a habit of hitting themselves in the head with a hammer - would you get them to stop, or would you respect their right to do something that hurts them? Christians believe that there is only one way to heaven, and that the people who don't go to heaven go to an eternity of pain and suffering. They want everyone to go to heaven, and avoid eternal pain. By ignoring other people's misguided faith, they are letting other people go down a path that leads to pain and suffering. They love you too much to let you do that without trying to help you.

Who says they don't? Let me guess - you think that all Christians are like the 2% or so fundamentalists that you have crossed paths with. Why don't you expand your horizons a little and find out what the other 98% of Christians have to say about other religions?

The bible has verses like "Thou shalt have no gods before me".
It talks about other religions making sacrifices to devils.
Things of that nature.
Also, they're supposed to spread the word of God and help everyone to reach Heaven.
