I don't think the troops expect nor require your thanks. But perhaps a small appearance of appreciation that they are willing and capable of do a job you either unable to do or don't want to do.

I am a former army officer and I worked with the troops in Iraq as a civilian for 18 months. They appreciate the thanks of their countrymen (and women) but they don't expect nor require it from them either.

If you really "wish"you could help with the fighting...loose the weight, get in shape and enlist. All it takes is motivation and setting your sights on the goal. Heck, I lost 50 pounds in 9 weeks over in Iraq through exercise and a strict & healthy diet. And at 52 that's not always an easy thing to do.

You poor pathetic excuse for a human being. I can't believe you even know how to use a computer. I really don't know what to say to someone who doesn't support our soldiers. Oh, I got it. I'm sorry. Sorry that your parents conceived you. God bless our men an women in uniform. Kick some *** in Iraq so we can come home. Go USA.

No thanks required, truth to tell it gets a little awkward for me at times too. A simple smile and courteous nod are more than enough acknowledgement for my blood.

Not all people who serve the country wear a uniform. No thanks is necessary.
