We volunteered and swore an oath to serve those who send us to war.

king....

You selected my answer to your previous question regarding the need to thank service members for their service. I read your comments and l left a reply that you might find interesting if you go back and review that question from your Q&A archive.

To answer this Q... 1st, absolutely the liberals seem to develop amnesia that it is an all volunteer military when they whine about "those who serve" having no choice; as if they are in prison. I think they care to some degree about the troops....as potential voters. And yes I think they use the military for their own agenda but so does every political party. That's one reason that when we are in the military we understand why we are suppose to be apolitical or at least non-political.

And yes service members can get out of these military if they violate the "don't ask, don't tell" policy. But how many gay members would that amount to? Wait...you can't possibly be suggesting that straight service personnel would lie about being gay just to leave the military? I am shocked & amazed at such a wild idea!!

That whole gay thing, isn't as easy as it sounds, unless you really are gay. And as for why people say military has no choice, some joined before the war in Iraq, some see this was as unnecessary, there are a lot of reasons for why people say the things they say. Yes its an all volunteer military and some join without knowing what they are truely getting into, some joined when there was no war and are now serving. Either way, every has their opinions, and everyone has the right to speak them, after all...isnt that what our military is fighting for? Our freedoms? Well no matter what side you are on, pro war or antiwar, i just hope everyone supports our troops and they job they do!

The point is that a military person swears to defend the U.S. from all foreign invaders. They fight to protect the U.S., and we would expect that their commanders would not recklessly endanger them in an unnecessary situation.

Those people who think that the Iraq War is not being fought to protect the U.S. (it was sold originally under the pretenses of there being WMD's that posed a great, immediate threat to America), and is not being executed well, think that lots of soldiers are going to die for no good reason.

The U.S. Military isn't the president's personal plaything. It shows a great disrespect to the military to put them in harm's way, and just leave them there to get picked off every day with no clear, workable strategy for accomplishing anything.

We fight for your right to be an ignorant and prejudiced *ss. Your right to criticize those who would rather not put us in harms way is of such importance that we have placed our lives on the line to defend it.

Try this, next time you argue with someone and insults you and you have someone else defending you, turn around and defend the first person´s right to insult you (not the person, just his rights). If you can manage that, you may be able to handle being a soldier, and to put up with ignorant *sses like yourself.

Don't you just love those answers from the libs, I don't support the Government but I do support the troops. I would like to see these libs watch the training we go thru for years on how to kill the enemy and when the war breaks out and we lay our cross-hairs on the insurgents and blow their heads completely off their shoulders will they love us then if they could really see what we have to do!!

Liberals believe that the cats who do join the military should have more rights and personal freedom. I, as a liberal, do not support our gov't, but I do support the troops. They are brave people who are willing to risk their lives for my freedom.
So, all you republicans can shove it.

Like a lot of decisions people in this country make, they hope for the best, and then cry foul when things get tough.
