I'm 25, and I eat a lot of salt. One day in the breakroom, a co-worker said to me, "You eat a lot of salt. I bet you sweat easily or a lot don't you?" Has anyone ever heard that salt makes you sweat?

Salt makes you swell, bloat, and overheat.

It stops you from sweating.

When i worked toting 20 tons per day, doing hot work with steaming lead we kept salt tablets on hand for emergencies where a person would overheat and dehydrate from excessive sweating. The salt tablets stopped the loss of water so that it could be retained until the water was replaced .

The salt causes more overheating but it helps you to keep your water till the end of the shift anyway, you just don't usually stop in the middle when pouring pigs from a ten ton pot of boiling lead.

Salt retains your water and should not be used as described above unless emergency is looming.

That wouldnt make sense. The more salt you eat, the more water you should retain in order to keep your body from having too high of a salt concentration.
