I'm Christian [somewhat, I don't go to church or pray or etc.] And I'm not sure about my religion. It seems...I don't know, wrong. You have to worship somebody or you will be tortured for the rest of enternity? That just doesn't seem to fit.

To "Heaven's Messenger".

When I said "Seems to fit" I mean't make sense.

And if I pray, and he supposedly "listens", how would THAT help ME make sense of it?

That's just one of the problems I had with Christianity. I spent 20 years in it, and finally got a clue.
I don't want to tell you what to believe, but perhaps you should explore what it is that you do believe.
Below are a couple of websites that can help you learn about all kinds of faiths.. perhaps one of them is much more like what you believe.
Many blessings in your search...

Dear Nicky,

If you never ate a meal, your body would not grow and would soon die.

Your Spiritual side must be fed to grow and to get that, you have to be in a strong Church that teaches the Bible as the only truth.

I go to an Assembly of God Church.

I once thought as you do now but that all changed once I started reading my Bible, praying and attending the right Church.

I don't want to be religious...I want to be Spiritual and I have found that in the Assembly of God...They believe in the WHOLE Bible...Not just parts of it...They also don't teach that ritual or your parents having you baptised when you are a baby gets you to heaven.

I decided that if the Bible were true, I'd believe it and pray for things to happen!...When I prayed Biblically, Godly miracles did happen.

You SHOULD allow someone to advise you and that should be a Godly, Bible teaching Church and Loving Pastor.

The Assembly of God worked for me...Perhaps you will find what you are seeking there!

You are searching though and that shows that God is seeking YOU!...If YOU seek him, you WILL find him if you look in the right place!

Please feel free to email me if you wish!

There are a lot of things that don't seem to fit. The problems are so large that there are thousands of books written to try to get Christianity to fit together... and it really doesn't.

Go to the bookstore, look through all of the books for or against particular religions... site like about.com have large sections on religious belief and non-belief... anyway, my point is, go read up... you will certainly not get any good answers here.

I was born a Roman Catholic, it was more culture that anything. I just could believe in all of it and did feel like it was right, so I started to go to other religions, and I after so much research and trying to belong to some thing I finally found something I believe in. I couldn't tell you what religion to follow and don't let anyone tell you either, you need to find that on your own.

Silly isn't it Nicky.

These are just lies that religion tells about God.

The real God is not the idiot these people make Him out to be.

Try reading the book the course in miracles. It gives you a rational view of God with out the nonsense that religion interjects.

Love and blessings Don

All I can tell you is to do the research on your own and come to your own conclusions. There were many things that bothered me about the religions I studied, so I did more study and analytical study, then studied some more... until I finally found Buddhism and found answers to my questions that, when put to the analytical, harsh tests I was used to using, made perfect sense. YOU must come to your own conclusions in your own way... all I wish you is that you find happiness that is freedom from suffering.

It's one of the same problems I had with Christianity, and I eventually gave it up. You should go to http://www.Ex-Chrisitan.net It's a support group/forum for people leaving Christianity. You can post your thoughts and questions there and don't have to worry about people telling you are damned to hell for questioning your religion.

You are right, no god that threatens people with eternal damnation is worthy of worship.

so join a religious group that says that prayer is optional and that point is to learn, not to be threatened.

Or better yet, no religion at all. From the most inteligent people I know, they have marked their own path

Seem to fit with what? And perhaps you have discovered your real problem with your religion, you don't attend any church, you don't pray, yet you expect to understand.

See, long as you see GOD as "someone" then you probably won't think HE deserves your worship.
