Little gadget called a videosafe, can buy them at staples for £40, or pick one up on ebay. You can convert any vhs or Hi8 tape.

It depends on the format, if you have MiniDV all you need is a firewire port on your computer and you can import edit and burn to a video CD or DVD. If you are using VHS-C or 8mm then you'll need a video capture device ether a PCI card or a box that attaches to the USB port it will convert the analog video and convert it to digital then you can edit and burn.

Do you mean CD or DVD? Answers already given fine for DVD. If you really mean CD then you will need extra software to generate VCD format files, and note that not all PCs/DVD players will handle them

Buy yourself a Tape to CD recorder £39 dont bother with your computer it will take forever (if you live in UK ,try ALDI)
