Is there a way someone could enlist right out of High School (Infantry) in the Marines, and while enlisted earn either an Associates OR Bachelors degree in teaching?

Like how long would it take, how much of it would have to be online, how much would the Marines pay for?

I know guys who are in combat MOS's that have earned degrees. The average Marine is deployed for 7 month increments, yes, there are some who are deployed longer. You could earn an associates while in if you're motivated enough, but if you want a bachelor's in teaching there's no way you can do both. Teaching requires that you do student teaching and there is NO way you'd have the time off to do that. You could take online courses from the school of your choice or you can go to the base education office and see what schools offer satellite courses on base or through a local college. I believe Tuition assistance now pays 100%, but you do have to meet academic requirements. And then of course if you enlisted and opted for the GI Bill, what it will cover as far as expenses depends on the kind of school you go to and the cost to go there, it will definitely cover most state schools, but you would probably have to foot part of the bill at a private college or university.

Being in the infantry would make it hard to finish your degree while in the Corps but you could still takes classes. While in the Marine Corps you can not use your GI Bill. THe GI Bill is for when you are out of the Military. WHile in the Corps they do have tutiot assistance and I think they pay about 80% of tution. you could also take online classes University of Phoenix and there are classes offered on base usually with the college nearby. Going infantry you will be deployed to Iraq and while there it would be almost impossible to continue taking classes. Good luck your education hope this helped. Semper Fi!

Opportunities are unlimited. 1st the values the Corps teaches you, can not learned anywhere else. You can do an early enlistment while you are still in high school. If you want infantry (your mos would be 0311) you more then likely will not have much time for school, but what you are learning from the Corps ,you can not learn from books! Simper Fi!

You could take classes on base or online...It would take about twice as long...You can get the GI Bill and Tuition assistance. It pays 100% up to a certain monetary limit per credit hour and per year.

No, definatly not. You will be allowed to take classes but don't expect to get more than about a semesters worth over the 4 years. You could join the reserves and have your degree before you get out.
