In the cafeteria at my school, there is not too much to choose from. I usually get 2 slices of provolone cheese on a whole grain roll with lettuce, tomato, green pepper and red wine vinegar. On the side I have about a 1/8cup of pasta salad (the pasta salad consists of ziti, chick peas, and salad dressing). And i drink water or tropicana.
I was also wondering if it would be healthier to eat this on a whole grain roll or a wheat roll?

Also, my friend gets a thing of fries every day, a chicken patty sandwich, and fruit juice every day.

I was wondering which meal was a better meal to eat. And which is healthier and lower in fat over all? Which might seem like a silly question, but I always wonder.

Also could anyone suggest something healthy to bring from home that is low in fat and high in protein. (I am a vegetarian, and quite a picky eater.)

Thanks so much to anyone who answers!!! I appreciate it soo much!!

fried foods are fatty.

you can bring a yoplait light yogurt to school for snack (100 cal and 5g protein)
sharp cheddar cheese and sliced green apples
whole natural unsalted almonds (160 cal & 6g of protein per serving)
celery actually takes more energy to burn than the # of calories it contains- so eat as much as you like.
try a small side of peanut butter for dipping or lo-fat italian dressing.
incorporating nuts and dairy will help you get the protein you need. Try to limit your juice intake which has tons of calories for what you get. Maybe decide only to drink juice w/ breakfast.
Hope this helps!

Chose the whole grain roll over the wheat roll. The whole grain roll will sustain hunger longer and provide additional fiber. Most wheat, although it sounds healthy is processed almost as much as white. Your lunch sounds pretty healthy, you say you want something low in fat, but fat isn't all that bad for you as long as you stay away from trans fat and keep saturated fats low. Olive oil is a good fat. As a vegitarian you should up your bean intake and maybe throw in a protein shake. As for your lunch a bean salad might be a good thing to add or veggie lasagna. French fries are the worst food you can eat, little nutritional value loaded with unhealthy stuff.

Your choice is the obvious winner. Just a note... although the pasta salad isn't necessarily bad, try to substitute it for a salad (no dressing) and/or fruit a least a few days a week.

To bring from home, how about soy nuts, almonds, energy bars, raw pumpkin seeds (high in omega3), any raw veggies (carrots, celery, etc), or soy milk.

1. wheat roll

2. you are eating SOOO much healthier. Hers is higher in transfat (cuz of the french fries) and you don't want that in your arteries. fruit juice is full of sugar (unless its 100% fruits juice which i doubt). chicken patty depends on whether it is fried or not. if its grilled it is healthy.

3.a good thing that tastes good is:
1%milk (for calcium)
peanut butter sandwich (holds you over)
an apple (cuz they are so darn good)
baby carrots (same as above)
pudding cup (cuz you have to have a bit of sugary sweetness)
