what are the benifits and drawbacks of keeping a relationship secret from your frineds, if you've gone out with the guy before and now your getting back together

If they ask tell them. You don't have to tell them, its none of their business. Your life is not a gossip to be spread around.

I just answered a similar question to this a minute ago. There should be no "secret" in a healthy relationship. You shouldn't have to hide or conceal it. IF you are hiding it, then its because you are afraid of what others would say. You are probably afraid what others would say because it wasn't good to begin with. (That is probably why the relationship ended in the first place) Use your friend's judgment in this situation! If you can't tell your friends or family, then it probably isn't right.
Please note, we do not live in ancient times when there was secret love because of a family's blood feud! We live in a time where it is healthy to be open and honest. Any relationship based on lies, even one like this, is doomed until you can be honest!
And chances are it's the guys idea to be keep it a secret! And once it gets out you are dating again, he's going to drop you! Sorry, but guys are jerks like that. Go out with a guy who will hold your hand in public! I'm sure there are plenty out there!

Well, if other people don't know that you are together than it keeps people from finding bad things to say about the relationship. Have you ever noticed how people have nothing to say about a guy until they find out that you are dating them and then all of a sudden they see him and hear about him doing things he shouldn't be? But if you keep it a secret it may just be difficult because people will see you together and if you are happy with him you might want to share it with your friends.

well one drawback is that the guy you are dating might want to get to know your friends or people you are hiding him from. he may not like being hidden like a secret.

just tell them aint nothing wrong with telling bout ur bf besids theyll find any ways and get mad b/c u DIDNT tell them at the first so just tell thers benifits other than they cant make u hold hands and tell u how cute u look togther

Maybe she's keeping her options open without telling you. She could be talking to some guy right now and if you were never official then she never really screwed you.

keeping it quite is allways trying to be discreate, hideing it from people and friends knowing that one slip and tounges will wag if anyone knows you and being open means theres nothing to hide and its who cares what others think as long as your happy togher, there the things to think about.
