I think it depends on the "feel" you're trying to convey in the room. For 2007, the most popular/trendy home decor styles are:
Comfort Colors: Biscuit and wheat neutrals, cocoa brown, pumpkin orange and cinnamon apple pie, are just a few.
Back to Nature: Yellows and blues, leaf-like greens, along with organic browns combine to bring the outdoors in.
Stark Contrast: From clean, clear reds and deep plums to the sophistication of black and white.
Personally, I like the warmth of Comfort Colors.
Happy decorating!

Light colors are best. It will give it a open airy feeling. I like the light ones such as sage ,cream, or even a light shade of yellow.Especially if your vaulted ceilings are darker wood.At the paint store, bring home some samples of current colors, sometimes that will assist you to choose. Also depends on the surroundings like the floor, and what color is going to be your accents. Sometimes colors in pictures you would like to use can also be helpful. Best of luck in your new venture.

What about doing each wall a different color? A nice sage green, a golden color, a plum, you could even leave the reddish/burgundy or change to brown. It would be very interesting and with a neutral couch you could add more color & prints with the pillows & maybe a rug. I think it would look great with the shudders too. I know it sounds weird, but I was in a house, turned into a store decorated this way and it really looked nice! Good Luck!

I agree with a very light, sea foam green or a light sky blue (more white with a hint of blue added in). Those colors are pleasing to the eye and will allow light to reflect off the walls.

A nice light green comes to mind too. Bright, airy and fresh! You'll walk in and almost feel like you can smell fresh cut grass and the outdoors on a lovely spring day!

Try a warm color. I used a color in my livingroom by Behr called Clair de Lune- it's a warm, beigy color. go to www.behr.com and they have a program which allows you to look at different colors on different rooms in a house.
