Even if it doesn't say "Do not microwave," you shouldn't. Besides the health risks, many times it will end up melting no matter how thick it is.

Placing plastic cups in the microwave are a health risk. Many plastics emit spurious chemicals into the liquid they contain. Some plastics also do not fare well in microwaves and will melt or change their structure and become brittle or even catch fire. You need to know if its microwave safe. Even then better to use a container or cup that is deemed safe for use in a microwave unit

i think you can place your coffee cup in it. Because the microwave oven will break down if u use metal things inside. all plastic can be used. sorry but I am learning English yet OK? bye

If it has nothing metallic on it (gold or silver designs, etc.) and if it doesn't say anything on the bottom of the cup to the effect of "do not microwave" you should be fine.

it depends. i once put a plastic measuring jug in the micro and it went a very interesting shape.
Try looking on the base for marks which may tell you if it is safe or not.

Probably not. But a ceramic cup or mug, yes. They don't have to be expensive.
