What is important to you. If getting laid and having a bunch of friends to hang with is meaningful, then you may want to stay away from Descarte and Socrates, or at least from discussing them at parties. If you feel that self discovery is vital then go deep.

Either way both have advantages and disadvantages. I say go out with friends, and talk about day to day things that everyone is interested, then read books at night from a number of different sources. That way you can be deep and shallow and get the best of both worlds.

You don't have to be a jerk to be shallow, or a nerd to be deep.

Deep is a matter of interpretation. For some, "deep"means basic politics, elementary maths, and reading books. In some academic circles "deep" is a requirement, indicating a profound and thorough knowledge of any subject. As deep equates to intelligence, it is a definite advantage.

Depends. I am a deep kinda girl (as the actor said to the bishop), but it usually gets me into trouble. If people ask me a question, I usually go a bit too deep and end up telling them where there going wrong, why people don't like them, whats been said, by who & when....................However I believe that this is a good characteristic, you tend to be real although perhaps a bit raw! I'd rather be deep than shallow put it that way!

depends if someone can take advantage of you. in other words is about who you are being deep with. a lot of people would see it as a weakness and use it, most normal nice sane people would think it is the way to go x

Good question. I think you need a balance and able to switch between the two modes or you will too affected by things. Read The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera if you havent already, it raises similar issues. Is it better to be light-hearted and carefree or not?

A huge disadvantage in the short run. Haven't you heard of Celebs?

Neither an advantage or disadvantage. Knowing God is where the advantage lies.

Both. Greater knowledge and experience and understanding are always forms of positive growth; for the mind or the spirit.

And, of course, if you "swim in the deep end of the pool," a lot of people won't understand you or will label you as some kind of elitist.

Oh, well.........
