hey chic! You should try recording your conversations. it might help you to notice the moments you use the word frequently, and it might help you to find a way to stop it. And here's a drastic measure: every time you say the word "like", bite your tongue. The more you do this, the less you pronounce the word. I've done it, and it worked. good luck!

The word "like" is used a lot by young people, you will naturally stop saying it after a while, but if you want to make an effort and stop immediately, then just take your time with talking. Figure out in your head exactly what you want to say, eliminate any "likes" and talk :) After a few days of doing this it'll get easier and easier!

Toastmasters have people armed with these annoying clickers that sound like a frog. Whenever someone speaks and says "um" or "you know", everyone will use the clicker.
You should have your friends make some noise every time you use the word "like"; eventually the interruptions will force you to break the habit.

You must be from California, lol. I was a problem I once had. What you should do I just keep that in the back of your head and consciously try not to say it.
Any speak more slowly, don't be afraid of pauses.

Slow down your rate of speech. "Like" is a filler word and you use it because you talk faster than you can think. Keep practicing until you find a speaking rate you are comforable with.

If slowing down your speaking doesn't work; try a rubber-band around your wrist...every time you realize you have said the word 'like'...snap the rubber band?
Just a suggestion.....

Speak more slowly, then you'll have time to come up with the right word, instead of ummmmmm, or like.....

Just have to think before you speak. You can do it if you really want to. Just have the mind and will power.
