First of all, I live here and love it! But the island is expensive and the pay is very low. Our minimum wage is $5.15. For apartments to rent go to: www.clasificadosonline.com Maybe you'll find something there. There are many pitbulls in PR so don't worry about that (just in case, dog fights are illegal). The jobs are scarce so I recommend you come here for a while and find a job and then make the move. Have fun!

It is difficult to find a job for a native Spanish speaker so...
As for a cheap one bedroom apartment you'll need $350 to $500 plus utilities and food. The Pitbull you can bring with you. Life is not cheap in the island and good jobs are scarce. Crime is an all time high too.

it depends on where in PR you will be moving to, if you move to touristic areas you could find a job at a resort they will not turn down a bilingual person and about the pitbull im not sure you can bring it in to the island pitbulls as in miami , theyre banned and i dont think you could even fly it to puerto rico. if you do get caught bringing the dog in to the island you could get fined or even arrested

Its sad you've worked for a company for twenty years speaking English and are only now being asked to learn another language. Sadder still that you know another language but not the right one. I dont think it's discrimination, though. Businesses have to move forward with the times, and as unfair as it might seem, we live in a time now where there are millions of Spanish speaking potential customers living among us. I would have done exactly as you, but keep an open mind and live as if you were to die tomorrow and learn as if you'd live forever! Good luck!
