I am interested in using linux but I am not very knowledgeable of it's user interface. I would like something fast, small to install, has support for most windows programs and has a user interface that is somewhat reminiscent of windows OS. Money is not an object.

Thank you in advance.

Linspire (-> http://www.linspire.com ) or its free version Freespire (-> http://freespire.org ) would be a good starting point. It comes with a customised KDE desktop environment which looks and works similar to Windows, comes with all needed drivers as well as multimedia codecs, Java and Flash plugin out of the box and supports Windows programs via the WINE environment.

your best bet would be a "Live CD" the one that I use personally...I'm using it right now in fact, is Damn Small Linux it's Small 50 megs, and requires NO install...you simply put the CD in, boot your computer with it :D, and let it load...it's self explainatory.... :D, you can also download Wine via the "MyDSL" icon on your desktop (it's under the system catagory) if you have had ANY experience with DOS, you can use wine :D :D I hope I helped :D :D

Note: You can also take the disc out, reboot your computer, and be RIGHT back in windows...there are others, such as Slax www.slax.org (a free version of Slackware (the linux I recommend for windows users (easier transition to linux)))

I would stay away from Linspire if I were you...you have to pay for it :( Linux was meant to be FREE!!!!
