Hi everyone, I'm planning my wedding and as I began thinking about our honeymoon and how nice it would be to NOT have to shave... I had a few questions come to mind about hair removal! Has anyone ever had a brazilian wax? Can someone explain to me step by step what they do? It seems rather embarassing, considering I read it goes from your front to your behind? How do they do it and does it hurt?!

It's a little embarassing but you get over it quickly, lol! One bit of advice, do NOT get it done less than 4 days before your wedding! You'll be a little ouchy for a day or so afterwards if it is your first time. Also be SURE to get someone very experienced with this, not some kid fresh out of beauty school!

They will have you remove your pants and panties and lay on a table and most will give you a towel to sorta cover up with. Then they'll have you bend one leg to the side and start on the bikini lines, working their way to the middle. The wax is different from what you'd use on eyebrows, a little thicker, a lot warmer. If it's too hot, don't be afraid to speak up. They'll put a strip down, then lay the cloth on that and hold it while the wax cools and hardens, and then RIP! No lie, it's gonna hurt, but it's different for everyone. I was fine until they got to the lips and then yeOUCH! When it's time for your rear, they'll either have you roll over, or you'll find yourself with your legs in the air and your cheeks spread. It's fast though, over before you know it. Afterwards they will rub some cooling gel over it to both remove the wax and take the sting out.

Be sure to exfoliate any area that has been waxed whenever you shower. If not, you may get what looks like a bunch of zits where the hairs were yanked out. A simple once over with a loofa or scrubby in the shower should prevent that. There's also some lotion made specifically for waxed skin... cannot remember the name now but the person who does the waxing will know.. something like Simply Bare.

The feel is NOTHING like shaving, believe me! The skin will feel like silk.

There are 3 kinds of waxing "types" for the bikini area that I'm aware of.

First there's the standard bikini wax. I went on a cruise last year and planned on having it done. When I got there I decided to go for the "modified" wax. The standard waxing just kind of "cleans up" around the edges. The modified waxing leaves what some people refer to as a "landing strip" (I know it sounds kinda gross.). It was so much more of what I wanted. Not too much, but enough to not have to worry when wearing a swimsuit. I have a friend who did the Brazilian wax. It takes off ALL the hair. OUCHY!!!

It hurts a little bit, like a quick sting. The esthetician that does it is very professional and courteous about it. You lay on a massage table and they give you a towel folded up and laid over the area to be waxed. They only move the towel over as they do each side so you're never totally "exposed" (unless you do the Brazilian.)

I know it's a pretty wordy answer...But I felt the same way when I was considering getting it done. It was well worth the time. It was great not having to worry about shaving! It lasts quite a while too. I guess it depends on the individual, but it lasted about a month for me.

I hope it helps :)

Hi there,

Um ok well they wax everything off meaning your whole front and if you do have hair in your behind they will remove that as well unless you don't want it, but I recomend that you do it will feel much more smoth and nice. Pain wise yeah It will hurt after the first couple of pulls of the wax strip, but it will get numb after a while, It is worth it if you have a good pain thresh-hold.

One more thing you can ask for a design at the front, alot of people do that maybe a love heart of a landing strip, which is just a stip of hair.

Or you can get your man's Initials, say if your man's name starts with a D they wax it in to resemble a D, its a lot of fun and I'm sure he will love it, It kinda shows him your all his. Have a great wedding a honeymoon.

Depending on your skin color and hair type. Laser works best for people who have light skin tone with dark hairs. For example, if you are blonde, it may not be the best method for you. I've done bikini (Brazilian) with laser. For the first time, I didn't put enough numbing cream so it hurt really bad and I almost cried. The URL is the place I go.

have you ever tried pulling your eyebrows? Of course it will hurt considering it's your first time. They will spread this gooey stuff on your skin, put a piece of paper over it, then pull. Don't worry the pain goes away in a few minutes.
