I know many people who were raised as Christians since birth. When they grew up and moved out of their parents' house, they adopted atheist views.

Why do you think many Christians become atheists?

Were you a Christian and now an atheist?

Because most atheists start out as theists. That's pretty much it. Almost everyone is indoctrinated into one faith or another since birth, so it's very rare to meet someone who REMAINED an atheist since birth.

A lot of us have to claw our way out of the web of faith that has been woven around us since birth. It's a tough fight but a lot of us make it out.

Actually, I started out as an atheist, and became a Christian after careful study. However, I know some people (not all) become atheists because they've had a bad experience with the church they were in. I've known people who moved out of their Christian parents home, and became proclaimed atheists. Of those people, nearly 2/3 of them have since found their way back to Christ. Sometimes, it's just a phase that a person goes through once they are out on their own, and sometimes, they sincerely believe that there is no God, and they never find their way back.

i became once a tremendously hardcore Atheist. To be honest, I nonetheless dislike Christians (or a minimum of i will not locate one which i'll get alongside with). although, I grew to develop into agnostic, because I struggle through from circumstances that technology can't no longer restoration to any proper degree. And now that I have experienced first hand the obstacles of technology, I have a tendency to make certain the topics in both theistic and atheistic wondering. the reality is, there's a lot we don´t understand. yet I see atheists claiming there's no god or gods even as - I advise, heavily, how the **** are you going to coach that a being powerful adequate to create the universe does no longer exist when we haven´t even totally discovered the international we are living to inform the tale or maybe our own damn MINDS. you spot, the straightforward enormous difference between an atheist and a theist, is that an atheist will somewhat no longer believe something till they see info. A theist will position self belief in it, although if abstractly, till shown in the different case. I don´t want info that there is a god or gods in basic terms as a lot as an atheist doesn´t want info that a god does no longer exist as a way to declare the type of subject matter (be honest). If we may be able to´t coach it one way or the different, then it doesn´t matter what you've faith or don´t believe, does it? reality is, all of us die besides, so in my opinion, I´d somewhat die believing that there is something more effective to the international than operating 9 to 5 slots in some unnecessary interest to perpetuate a society of bickering morons each with their own backstabbing time table (like your anti-Christian one the following, case in factor).

I was raised a Christian, but I was getting pretty atheistic by the time I was 16. I'm 27 now.

I think the reason is that we just look around and can't believe the Bible. Since we don't believe in the Bible, there's little reason to believe in Jesus, and that leaves us being vague deists until we eventually let go of the whole God concept.

Here are some observations I've seen with this. When a Christian or pretty much any other religious type falls away from their beliefs it's easier for them to no longer exercise faith in God than to try a new faith. Going from Christianity to Judaism or Islam or any other faith would require a huge shift in your core beliefs of what you think God is. I think it's easier to adopt atheist views than to adopt a new theology.

I was a christian and am now an atheist.

I got a little educated...looked at things with an open mind.

I just don't believe the fairy tale anymore. If you are good boys and girls you get to live forever, while the bad boys and girls burn in anguish forever and ever.

Why would a God create a system that most of the people who've ever lived would end up burning for eternity? Is that a God of love? Most people never even heard of Jesus before they died...

Religion is for people who can't accept the fact that we die, decompose and that is it...we don't go to heaven, hell, get reincarnated or live as spirits. We just die and cease to exist. So, enjoy the short life you have on earth as much as possible...be good to your loved ones...and try to make this place a little better in some way than it was when you got here.

You erred. Just because one was raised in a Christian family does not mean he is a Christian. To be a Christian is a conscious choice that one must make in recognition of his sinful condition and his need for a saviour, and that may happen at some point in his life when he is able to understand these things.

Yes I was but started questioning at a young age. Once I got to college I began to seriously look at my beliefs. Therefore, I am now an atheist. Religion just seemed so ridiculous to me and I just couldn't get past what a joke some of the stories from the bible are. Atheism was my logical choice.

There are a few verses in Hebrews chapter 6 that go,

For it is impossible for those who were once in- lightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
And have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the world to come,
If they shall fall away to renew them again unto repentance seeing they crucify to themselves the son of God afresh and put him to an open shame.KJV

Which basically says they could never have been Christians in the first place. I hope I somewhat answered your question. Need help Email me at, zaysayshey@hotmail.com
