I think it is a difficult move, culturally. The upside is that you are already accustomed to an expensive cost of living- so that helps. You should move to an area where you can walk a lot- mainly the westside. Otherwise you are always in your car- which is very different from NY. There is basically no change of seasons, although it does cool down a bit in the winter months. And, unfortunately, the pizza sucks in L.A. Everyone tells me it's because of the water that goes into the crust.

But, it is wonderful sitting outdoors at dinner- very few bugs!

Good luck with your decision!

For a while I moved from L.A. to the East Coast, and stayed in NYC for quite a while.
I love NYC for it's people, and it has some really cool cultural stuff, but as a Native Angelino I really missed the mountains and deserts. After a few years, I came back to L.A.
But, I have to say, I love going back to NYC every few years to get my "Metropolis fix" as it were. I really love riding the subways and hanging out in the summer in Central Park's ramble.
