First thing that you do, is call the jail that the person is incarcerated in. Tell one of the officers that you want to send someone a care package and want to know what all you can send them.

Most facilities will not let the inmate recieve it unless they have had written approval from the jail staff such as a Sgt. or Captain. So make sure the person has an apporoval for whatever it is that you want to send to them. Most of the time the only thigns that are allowed to be sent to the inmates or personal hygeine items (if they do not have money on thier books or they are what they consider indigent), books (paperback not hard back), and pictures (with no sexually oriented material or stuff with alcohol or drug use in it). That pretty much is it.

Just call up there to check to see what all they can and can't have.

Good luck.
