I am planning a reception for 95 people. My wedding has a cinderella theme. I was wondering what type of food would be appropriate to serve at the reception. Should I have a sit down dinner? A cake and punch only? or should I have the meal be a buffet?
Please advise. I finally got mom to quit trying to run the show. We are both working together on it. But we are both at a lose on this one.

I went to a web site specially designed for a cinderella/princess style weddings. It has all sorts of details for every aspect of the wedding. You can use this site to plan the whole wedding not just the food.
But for the food I would suggest Crisp roast duck or cornish game hens and let the champagne flow freely. The side dishes could consist of a medley of choices such as Oysters Rockefeller and poached mushrooms.
I would have a formal sit down family style dinner.
For centerpieces you could get Castles, Carriages and even Glass Slipper collectibles. Good luck and happy hunting

My aunt got married last july. She had a cinderella themed wedding as well. there were about 300 people and it was so great. (except the standing only for the ceremony.) She had a buffet meal and then cake. her dress was the type that she wore n the movie (only pink) and she even wore the white gloves. at the reception they made pillars into castle like things and even had a cut out from the movie there. They had a cinderlla ice scuplture among other things. To put cards in that the guest brought she had a castle type box with a slit in it. I cant remember what else she had but i know it was very elegant and nice. The whole bridal party then got together and bought them a carriage ride through town! A cinderella pumpkin one of course!

I would lean towards a sit-down dinner over a buffet. Buffets never run as smoothly as they are supposed to. Tables get up when they're not supposed to, the lines get too long, people feel "shafted" to be the last table to eat. Plus, especially if it's Cinderella themed, people are going to be in evening gowns/dress-y clothes. There is more of a chance of making a mess of everything with a buffet.

Congrats first of all. I myself am having a Cinderella theme wedding instead of for 95 for 250 people. I am having A sit down dinner because it feels more like a royal dinner being served to you. If you think about Cinderella and all its specs you imagine being a princess and prince in which all your meals are served to you. As you set back an listen to the quartet / orchestra play (in my case I'm playing instrumental Disney music and classical pieces on Cds) To give that feeling that you have been swept away to the perfect fairytale. Good luck if you need any ideas feel free to email me.

NO not a buffet its more expensive than a plated dinner because you have to supply more food

Anywhoo you should have a plated dinner! A Cinderella theme is supposed to be classy, elegant, sophisticated!!!!

As for food it should be sophisticated. If you need ideas make an appointment to talk to the chef or the caterer whoever is supplying the food they will have tons of ideas.

Good luck!

Every wedding should have a buffet even the one of a princess. Congratulations and good luck.

Sit down dinner. Make it as if it were an invitation for dinner at the king's place.
