I used to use a similar abbreviation on the face of tickets that I issued to help me remember how a person was identified during my contact with them. DL+ means that they had their driver's license in their possession. DL- means that they did not.

Nova could be a brand or type of laser or radar they officer was using when they cited you. It would help to see the cite, or see what context the above writings were used in.

When an officer writes a ticket he describes the vehicle to which the occupant was driving on the summons. This will aid the officer if he has to make a presentation in court.

The defense attorney will attempt show that the officer can't recall the event because he didn't know the color, make, model, the year or any other trivial matter. In fact he will attempt to show that the cop was actually home asleep when and must have been dreaming when it happened.

I surmises in your you driving a Chevy Nova DL in the officers dream but it's my question is how did you get the ticket.
