Yes they contain calories, but they are good because of the nutrients in them. Of course you can gain weight from eating fruits and vegetables. If you eat 100lbs of black beans everyday, you will gain weight. But at the same time if you eat only 1 candy bar everyday, you would lose weight. Gaining weight has to do with how many calories you take in and how many calories you burn. If you burn more than you take in, you lose weight. If you burn less than you take in, you gain weight. The difference between a green bean and a candy bar is that the candy bar has very few vitamins and minerals that your body needs.

Yes they do. A serving of fruits has 60 calories and a serving of vegetables has 25 calories. A serving size varies from one to the other so keep in mind that an apple, orange, small banana, peach are all one serving, so is 14 grapes, or a 1/2 cup of berries. Veggies are usually measured in 1/2 cup servings as well except for the starchy ones like corn, peas, and potatoes. Those are more like a starch which would be 80 calories for a 1/2 cup serving. It would be difficult to gain weight eating veggies if they aren't the starchy ones, unless you load them down with butter or cheese. Plain they're excellent. Fruits on the other hand are still difficult for you to gain weight but keep in mind that if you eat a lot of fruits and are not active they can be broken down and stored as fat. Again it would take quite a bit to do that.

theres no way fruits or vegetables are going to make you gain weight. Unless you eat 20 tonnes a day, which aint gonna happen. Eat frequently, its all about calories.

They do have calories (few), but they don't make you gain weight, because they don't contain any fat, and they contain mostly fiber, which helps even fats from other foods be rejected from the body, and they have a low glycemic index, which means they help the body burn fat and not be hungry. Plus, tehy have precious vitamins etc. Don't eat too many bananas though, they have more carbs than other fruit. So even though it sounds wrong, it is true that 1000 calories from fruits and veg will not make you fat, whereas the same amount coming from fried chips and sweets will accumulate fat.

All fruits and vegetables contain calories. Eating too many calories, no matter what food they come from, will eventually make you fat. However, eating plenty of fruit and veg is very healthy (lots of vitaminsand things ) and necessary for your body. 100 calories worth of oranges is always better than 100 calories worth of Mars bars.

as you have heard, yes, they have calories, and some fruits have alot of natural sugar. but look up online "negative calorie" food, and you will find some foods that actually take more calories to burn then what is actually in the food. im assuming you asked this question because you want to diet? these neg. calorie foods are great snacks. remember anything in excess will make you gain weight.

Yes fruits and vegetables have calories. They don't necessarily make you gain weight, depending on how active your are and how much calories you intake.

Hello Obessed,

Any amount of food will cause you to gain weight if you eat to much of it. Fruits and Vegetables are not exempt, although they have less calories then chicken, fires, etc. good luck to you.

i have to agree with some of the people ahead of me.

YES fruits and veggies have calories, but they have them in a good way. and when u eat the right portions it is good for you.too much of anything is bad for you. just like with cake and cookies. you should vary your diet, and not try to just go on an all fruit and veggie diet, if you are planning on it, a healthy diet and a good bit of exercise will help you burn extra calories. so yea, fruits have calories and so do veggies

by the way.. my fave veggies is green beans
and fruit is bananas
