That really doesn't settle anything, except for the fact that the speaker of that quote is convinced without evidence.

No, They do not believe in a God, so it matters not what some book or person says that god said. Also if true and there is a god it matters not whether you believe it or not, if god said it that settles it your belief has no bearing in it.

For example most so called Christians claim baptism is not essential to salvation. So Mark 16;16 could be said that Jesus said it so that settles it, A person's belief on the matter is not relevant.

Or the bible says it , so that settles it and then gives quotes like Acts 2:38 and points out the question Peter was answering Romans 6:4,5,6 Galatians 3:271 Corinthians 12:13 Colossians 2:11,12,13,14 1 Peter 3:21

So you see if there is absolute truth and if there is a God and if the bible is his word, it does not matter if we believe it or not that settles it. PERIOD.

If people here are really Christians showing love is the only way to win anyone over. But I never see love here. I keep looking and see many other fruits but no love. No compassion, no fruits of Godliness.

If it thrills you to say it, then that's good enough.

But it hardly "tackles" anything. Is atheism, Islam, or Christianity best tackled by reciting, "Osiris said it. I believe it. That settles it."?

Not at all.

But if it makes you happy, knock yourself out. Just don't think that it tackles anything.

Edit: Doug has the audacity (and the dishonesty) to claim that atheists say, "God's not real. I know it. That settles it." While I cannot deny that some atheists make that claim (mostly, gnostic atheists), your argument is transparent by making the claim that all atheists say that. I have never said it, so why would you violate one of God's Commandments by lying about what I said?

Nope....

I think Atheism is best tackled by presenting it as just as much of a faith as any religion.

Atheists base their belief that there is no God on worldly knowledge. It is usually presented as Science.

Given that mankind has only just begun to gather and understand information about the world, let alone the entire universe, it is a bit presumptuous to state, there is no god.

That statement is based on an infinitesimal amount of available information in the universe, and therefore its a statement of Faith, not of Fact.

If you can get an atheist to understand that, then you have turned them into an Agnostic, who will agree to the possibility of a God.

Turning an agnostic into a Christian, Jew, Muslim etc....is another story all together, and relies on your ability to instill your faith into them.

I can't tell you about that, because no-one has been able to turn me from agnosticism yet.

Well, you aren't probably going to "turn" any atheists by that quote, but (hopefully) it would at least get them off your back. Which I assumed was your intention? Because really, that is the only difference...we believe in the word of God, and atheists think that it's made up, I guess.

The following argument is a standard example of begging the question: "The Bible says God exists, and the Bible must be right since it is the revealed word of God, so God exists." Obviously enough, no one who doubts the conclusion has any reason to accept the second premise, which presupposes it.

I'm agnostic
i dont care what others believe that's there choice. but when they push there religion on other people and say other religions are wrong then that's not ok. also calling gays sinful. that's why Christians get so much disrespect from atheists because its not right! if you dont do that i respect you. you should also have to respect atheists in turn because they have a right to a belief of whatever they want and you cant interfere.

I think you meant to ask,
'Is atheism best *amused* by reciting the following quote?'

Atheism being tackled??? By THAT quote???

Noooo...I really don't see it.

Whoever says that quote really does not see the whole picture and is blinded by religion.
