Your 18 so you can pretty much do whatever you want. But take into account your families feelings. Be the one to tell your family before they hear it elsewhere. Be matter of fact like and let them know you guys are a couple and you really like him. after you get over that hurdle then you can make your relationship known to everyone else.

first of all, you are 18 there is no big deal about the age of 24 only 6 years. your family , i am sure, expects you to find someone and fall in love and get married and so on.. i would much rather have my 18 year old find an older person then one his or her age or younger. the older ones are a little more mature. (hopefully)

Their is nothing wrong with your age difference. You are only 6 years apart, and women mature faster than men. You are a grown woman now and its time you put yourself first. The relationship is between you and your fella, not you, your fella and the rest of the world.
Go for it!

Ask him to wait. First! You're gonna change how you look at things. Once you hit 21 or 22. You probably aren't gonna feel the same way about him. If both of you are THAT tight with eachother. He'll wait. And you won't lose him. Love conquers all!

I think that if you are concerned about how your parents will react, the best thing for you to do is to actually talk to them about it. There really is no other way to go around it. You obviously have strong feelings for this guy and to just let him go like that would be devastating and who knows maybe he's "the one" ? So just sort it all through in your mind and heart...and talk to your parents.

Good luck!

that isnt such a big age gap and boys mature slower than girs so kinda evens itself out. you should just tell them and explain that going out with someone younger would only bring more problems. you're 18 now, its your life, sounds like they're being a bit harsh

It's not that big an age difference though. Can't you lie to your parents about his age? That's what i've always done - knock a few years off his age 'cos they'll never know.

If you're embarassed to be seen with him then you don't deserve him. Secret relationships are only cool when you're too immature for a real one. It's not your age that's the problem, it's your attitude.
