I think it's more important that she goes to bed at the same time every night, rather than wake up at the same time. If she is sleeping 12-14 hrs total, then she's getting enough sleep and hot those hours break down probably won't be consistent every day. Some days her nap will be longer, some days it will be shorter. But what's important is an established bed time and routine. Also, from my experience with my son, putting them to bed earlier doesn't always mean they will wake up earlier. I know it sounds counter-productive but I was shocked when I put him down at 6:30pm(b/c he's NOT a good napper like your daughter) and he woke up at 7:30am and has ever since. Plus, she will eventually get rid of her nap all together and it will be important to have a clear bed time. I hope this helps! Good luck!

I wake my 2 1/2 year old son up by 3:30, regardless of when he fell asleep. I want to make sure he has enough awake and active time after his nap so he is ready to be tucked in by 8:30. He is usually asleep by 9 pm and up around 6 am. I shoot for 1 1/2-2 hours of nap time.

Kids go through phases. My daughter (2 yo) sleeps 10:00 to 7:00 every night and takes a 1 or 2 hour nap every late morning/early afternoon. My mom said I was a lot like that, but didn't sleep through the night like she does. She said I never slept through the night, and my brother didn't until he was 4. She said she aske the doctor about us. They said, "if they're not cranky when they are awake, they're fine". Unfortunately, some kids just don't sleep much. Keep in mind, too, that having a new baby in the house may be stressful for her. Maybe she'll get back on schedule when she adjusts emotinally.

my son is 4 and hes always had the same routine. Since he was about 1. We put him to bed each night at 8-8:30pm and whenever in the morning he wakes up, he wakes up. When he was around 2, he took two naps a day. He would wake up around 6:30 eat breakfast, get dressed and lay down for a short nap about 10 am.....Wake up about 11 eat lunch, play, color, things like that and lay back down about 3 and nap til about 4 but id always wake him up before 4:30 so he wasnt having a hard time getting to sleep at night. Now that hes 4 hes down to one nap a day. He still goes to bed between 8 and 8:30 and takes a nap about 1pm each day wakes up about 3, eats a snack and plays until supper then in bed again at 8. This was our routine for all four of our boys and we NEVER have issues with bedtime or nap time because they are so use to it :) Goodluck!!!

I wouldn't stress too much about being off routine. My son was on a normal schedule, but when we moved in with my in-laws nap time was impossible due to the noise factor. He got to where he wouldn't nap anymore. He'd go to bed at 10 and get up at 10 with no naps during the day. We have our own place now and he still doesn't nap. He just got out of the habit. As long as I let him get his 12 hrs at night he'd be fine thru the day.
