I'm getting married next month and want a unique way for guests to write their well wishes. I thought about the signature mat frame, but that seems somewhat over done now. I think the traditional book is boring since I doubt we'll ever open it up and read it at anytime in the future. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated - thanks! :D

I have seen stainless steel and silver plates or big vases that come with engraving pens and guests etch messages or signatures on the plate and vase with the pen.

I have been trying to come up with a unique guest book also. I really want a photo guest book and also one where people are able to write a small message rather than just their name. I think I am going to find a photo album or a scrapbook and have the person at the guestbook table take a photo of each group of guests as they arrive and give them a small notecard sized paper to write on. Then they can write a wish or whatever with different colors of markers/pens and kind of show their style. I want to disply the photos next to the names of the guest and their message. I also was thinking of sending a double of the photo to the guests in their thank you card.

Our family has done this and its always a hit.

You will have to have someone in charge of this, preferrably a cute young girl,(early 20s with alot of confidence) they seem to get the best results.

Get a polaroid and a binder scrapbook (not with fillable plastic pages, but with heavy cardstock pages that are attached) Have the girl go around the recption and take a picture of each person/couple/family and it gets glued to a page. Then the people sign their page with well wishes and stuff. Its always a big hit and everyone loves to see the books when they are at anothers house to see what everyone wrote. Also, as the night wears on and people are drinking more, the notes get funnier and funnier.

This is what I'm doing I bought a scrap book for $20 bucks. The inside of it has to be so you can write on the sheets. So I'm putting pictures of me and my fiance on one side of the sheet on the other side there will be a love quote. The good thing is that you buy the filler sheets for the scrap book, so you can make it how big or small you want. Also just keep in mind that this is more than a signature book. It's a book for thoughts, comments, best wishes, ect. Hope this helps.

I am taking a plain white guest book and a wide band of red satin to put on the cover close to the bind. It will be cinched in the center with an antique broach. Instead of having the run-of-the-mill sign guest book, I am having the guest book attendant play photographer with a Polaroid camera. Each guest, or group of guests, will have a picture taken, and will sign the photo or the page on which their photo appears. This creates a wonderful photo album of all my guests.

I know people that have gotten fancy bird cages and the guest write notes on colorful stationary and put the cards in there. Or some couples get a large picture frame and put a pic of them together and guest take a marker and write well wishes around the pic.

Here is a great way, but it does have some cost behind it:

Rent a carnival style photo booth that prints out strips of black and white photos. Have it set up at the reception with a photo album that fits these style of pictures. Attach a pen to the book and let people write their well wishes next to their picture.

In a metropolitan area, a photo booth will cost $1500 for 8 hours and unlimited photos.

Go to Guestbookstore.com. Trust me, this guestbook is something that you wouldn't only look at once. Each guest gets their own page where they can write their favorite moment at the wedding or how many kids they think you two will have or their favorite memory with one of you. I can't wait to see what my family will put in mine, it's going to be so sweet and probably pretty funny too. You get to choose the cover, how many pages, what you want on each page, the font, the style, everything. It's a great site!

Here is a simple and inexpensive alternative. Buy a small 3-ring binder, white/ecru parchment paper, and simple, professional-looking pen. Go to Michael's (or any local craft store) and buy fabric to cover the outside of the binder, and inside if you like, and perhaps floral patterns, lace, artificial flowers, ect. to decorate it. After everyone has signed, place each sheet in a plastic cover, like a photo album. You then have your own homemade guest book, and it's personalized for the two of you!

I went to Barnes and Noble and bought pretty decorated note cards. We gave each guest a card to write a note on with a jewel colored pen that matched the colors in the design (we had a knight and princess type theme, well as much as two rednecks getting married in vegas could..lol).
We are going to decopage(sp?) them onto a side table after we move.

We also used the matching envelopes that came with them to send the left overs as thank you notes.

My friends just got married in May and they had each person/couple have their own page with a spot for a picture (which somebody took before entering the reception) and a couple of "where did you meet the bride/groom" and "favorite memory" spots, as well as a blank spot for whatever you wanted to write. It was pretty cool, though I have not seen the finished product.

Oh, they handed out cool pens too. Gotta have the means...
