I think NYC has a electricity to it..the city is so alive and loud and out there. It has it's own soundtrack ( the garbage truck, police siren car horn, car alarm, barking dog, yelling people, cargo load and unload mega-mix) the best people watching i've ever seen. New Yorkers as a group speak their mind you won't get BS when you ask them a question. Also at least for me i had such a sense of Deja -vu when I had my first visit as anyone might if you watch tv or see movies as they are such a frequent backdrop it makes you feel like you are on a movie set. 99.8 percent of the people i've met there are so interesting and open to tell you the best resturant, cheapest place to get dr. scholls supplies, and general life stories." A city with 8 million stories" indeed!
Good luck on the essay!

Well, as described above, when you're in New York you feel like you're in the center of the world. You never get bored, there're lots of things to do. I also like the fact that it's a melting pot. There are people from lots of other countries and I think that's what best represents New York: it's the centre of all cultures.
Good luck with you're essay, you surely have a lot of sources.

The great thing about New York City is that when you're there, you feel like you're in the center of the universe... that anything and everything is possible. The worst part is that it's becoming too expensive for a lot of people to live here.

I think Central Park is one of New York's greatest assets. When outsiders think of Central Park, they think it's full of junkies, drunks, muggers and rapists. Nothing could be further from the truth. The subway system is pretty much the same story; it has a bad rap, but I think it's by far the best way to get around NYC. Madison Square Garden is a nice venue..I got to see Robert Plant open for The Who there...the place, needless to say, rocked!

Centre of the universe today, in 2007, just as London was the centre of the universe in 1907.
