As a married person myself, I think St. Paul was spot on when he wrote, "The unmarried man is anxious about the affairs of the Lord, how to please the Lord; but the married man is anxious about worldly affairs, how to please his wife, and his interests are divided. And the unmarried woman or girl is anxious about the affairs of the Lord, how to be holy in body and spirit; but the married woman is anxious about worldly affairs, how to please her husband." (1 Corinthians 7:32-34), and Jesus spoke of those who are "eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 19:12).

God wanted them to go and multiply. One can't do that if they take the vow of celibacy. If a man could not control his desires, then go and take a wife. (Paul's sermon)
Celibacy, is a man made ruling. Cathoic priest don't marry nor do the nuns. However, one pope fathered a son, who became pope. Plus as they claim Peter was the first Pope, he too was married. So, not sure why they added to God's scripture.
Celibacy is forbidden by Scripture. Paul writes in 1 Tim. 4, to deny a priest to marry is not a teaching from God but a teaching from a demonic source.
1 Tim. 4:1-5: "Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits
and "doctrines of demons", speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, "forbidding to marry", and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those "who believe and know the truth". For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving;for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer."

celibacy is a calling...as long as you have self control but since there is immorality worlwide, a man should marry than burn with passion.
if a man is happy of his situation there's no wrong in celibacy as long as your concern is in the Lord and to win souls.
in 1 Cor.7 Paul was trying to teach the Corinthians a practical lessons about the Christian life so they would know right and wrong.and He mentioned about marriage.... and unmarried to stay unmarried but if they cannot control the lust of their flesh they should marry than burn with passion(lust).

Well, a vow of celibacy is a noble expression of man's creation.
It is intended to show a willingnesss on mans part to overcome the base God given instinct to procreate as an expression of humility and willingnes to forgo natural desires in favor of following God. Unfortunately, for Christians, and actually most faiths it is an expression that is in direct conflict with a directive from God.
I myself respect those who, regardless of the manner they choose to express themselves, try to live in accordance with their belief system. I do not however believe celibacy is the wish of God. He defined the proper use of procreative powers and commanded us to use it within those bounds to a) replenish the earth, and b) to have a fullness of joy.

We are all one in the body of God. Some are called to give shaktipat (baptize with spirit and with fire) It appears to me those so called, should be celibate, House holders have a duty to spouse. All should be miserly with sexual energy. It is the fountain of youth. Pure creative energy, and is the means whereby the body is raised into spirit, full of light. Caution, Do not force celibacy!

I don't attribute any religious practice to celibacy. I think it's personal, and as far as priests who take a "vow of celibacy" (those who haven't molested kids, that is), it's a man-made rule, not one from God.
How else would one procreate, and "creation" is the central form of that word, as in children of God.

1 Corinthians 7:7 Yet I wish that all men were even as I myself am. However, each man has his own gift from God, one in this manner, and another in that. 8 But I say to the unmarried and to widows that it is good for them if they remain even as I. 9 But if they do not have self-control, let them marry; for it is better to marry than to burn.

celibacy just for the sake of celibacy is valueless at best. But celibacy for the sake of a good may have something to say for it.
