I would never say it's payback for the Crusades. I think they just don't respect themselves. If one doesn't respect himself, how can they respect others?

There has been a few Muslims that had spoken out against Islamic extremist, but, on the same token, some are still bound in fear because of family members still living in these countries. They fear the risk and possibility of them being killed. Remember these Islamic extremist also killed children to change the views of their own people to convert to their radical ideological ways. How would you react if you were in their situation would you risk the lives of your love ones to make America or any other opposing country feel that all Muslims are not bad people. It only takes common sense to know that, they moved here because of the fear in the way of life in the Middle East..

That is all populist hype to "demonize" Muslims in order perpetuate this war on terrorism. All the practicing Islamists that I know personally are the most peaceful people in the world. Any war in it's simplist form is a war between the haves and have nots. They obviouly "have not".

When the Middle East's oil is depleted and they pitch the tents of their fathers on the sands once more. They disregard the "gentler" tenets of their faith because they are preoccupied with their grab for power.

Until they join the 21st century may their Maseratis break down at every intersection. May their scotch taste like camel p***. May their camels endlessly give birth to infidels. May their short swords shrivel up, in the desert heat, and fall to the ground before they give life to more of their ilk. May their machinations cause their own destruction.

The only reason Christianity is not guilty of the same things now is because it has been (somewhat) separated from politics (abortion clinic bombing, anyone?). Israel is an occupying force on someone elses land, and there only claim to it is RELIGIOUS (archeology says the first inhabitants were Palestinian), which means US support of Israel violates the separation clause of the US constitution. So payback here (for Israel and her supporters) is a beef that is much more current than any crusade. So yes, Islam has much to answer for, but most of it can be attributed to the level of political involvement they allow their Mullahs to have.

Your questions are valid and searching. Islam is not a religion that welcomes questioning. Muslims have killed or threatened to kill those artists and politicians who've asked questions like yours.

Edit: It's bizzarre that people are mentioning Israel and Chritianity here. I can't see Israel or Christianity in your question anywhere.

All of these same questions can be asked of those in Israel who continue to bait and attack Muslims and the silence of those who refuse to comment on that. PEOPLE use religion as an excuse to further their own personal agendas which often might have NOT A DARN thing to do with the actual religion they CLAIM they believe. Finger pointing is wasted activity... correction action is altruism, knowledge, patience, etc.

The world is trying to adjust to the collision of two vastly different philosophies. On the whole, Islam is a religion of peace--but there is a significant minority of violent, fundamentalist Islamics who give the religion a bad name, and the governments of Islamic countries sit quietly by, or offer support to these misanthropic men. They take bits and pieces of their scripture and rally around them for evil rather than good. While there is much that is good in the Islamic teachings, here are some examples of the problem-causing scriptures--
Qur’an 8:60 “Infidels should not think that they can get away from us. Prepare against them whatever arms and weaponry you can muster so that you may terrorize them.”

Bukhari:V4B52N260 “The Prophet said, ‘If a Muslim discards his religion, kill him.’”

Qur’an 5:51 “Believers, take not Jews and Christians for your friends.”

Sahih Bukhari V6B61N577:
I heard the Prophet saying, "In the last days (of the world) there will appear young people with foolish thoughts and ideas. So, wherever you find them, kill them, for there will be a reward for their killers on the Day of Resurrection."

Bukhari [4:52:177]: Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. "O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him!"

Bukhari, V1B4N234: "A group of people from the Oreyneh and Oqayelh tribes came to the prophet to embrace Islam, the prophet advised them to drink the urine of the camels. Later on when they killed the prophet's shepherd, the prophet seized them, gouged out their eyes, cut their hands and legs, and left them thirsty in the desert to die."

Fight and slay the pagans wherever you find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem of war. Surah 9:5

The punishment of those who wage war against Allah (blasphemy) and his Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the hereafter. Surah 5:33
Quran 4:34 "(as to those muslimah’s) on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them;"

ON THE OTHER HAND, FROM THE CHRISTIAN SCRIPTURES--

Matthew 5:44,45 But I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
1 John 4:7,8 ...let us love one another: for love is of God; and everyone that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Ephesians 5:28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

Colossians 3:19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them

MY RESPONSE--
As Christians, sometimes we have a hard time turning the other cheek--but it's generally not in our nature to be the offender. Our nation was built on tolerance, and we're not islamophobic, or against any religion! We're fanaticphobic. And terroristphobic. We want to be able to take our families to Disneyland without having to worry about being maimed or killed by a raving lunatic who thinks he has a mission from God, and who thinks forcing others to bow down with a gun to their head is acceptable.
We find ANY RELIGION--including Islamic fundamentalism--to be BARBARIC, distasteful, and a mockery of true religion WHEN it is used as an excuse to do EVIL.

So, all violent religious nuts listen closely--if WE did what YOU do, WE would be executed as criminals by our own courts! Trying to spread religion by force can be compared to using the KKK and its violence to spread Christianity. The IDEA is abominable to us, and to ALL civilized people, REGARDLESS of religion!
So, to ANYONE who would use religion as an excuse to be cruel, murderous or evil--GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!

All organized religion breeds tribalism--the "us & them" mindset. Of the many forms of tribalism-(Nationalism,language,skin color,culture-etc--religion is by far the most dangerous--as people have always murdered "others"--in the name of God--& fool themselves that they are doing it for "God".
