Yes, of course. Even if it's in my own bathroom at home.

ABSOLUTELY! Not only the bathroom; after using a public ink pen, or a shopping basket. These are probably nastier than post-toilet washing. Everyone should keep some hand cleanser close after using anything public. Keep you hands away from you nose, eyes and mouth also. You'll be surprised on how this will impact your "got-a-bug" rate during the year. Also, teach your kids to do the same. Godloveya for asking an informative question that helps others!

Abso-freakin-lutely and anyone who doesn't should be showered in hand sanatizer!!!!!!!!!! It grosses me out to see someone step out of a stall and proceed to flip and fluff their hair, put on lip gloss (with their finger) and walk out the door. They are the reason I don't turn the tap off with my newly clean hands (I use the paper towel) and use that same towel to open the restroom door (eventually all restaurants will learn to put a garbage can by the door). Given the new strains of flus and bugs, you can't be too careful.Hand sanitizers are now my favorite all time invention! I work in a school and since I keep a bottle on my desk, I don't get sick nearly as often!! And to the guy who doesn't to build up a resistance, well there's building resistance and then there is just plain gross - hope you're not a chef!!

I do. Bathrooms are germ magnets. While urine is pure, everything else you touch in the bathroom (and on the way there) is contaminated.

At home, I wash, but I don't fully dry. I shake the excess water off and immediately put lotion on my hands.

I'm an Environmental Engineer and I deal with health and safety. What are you looking for exactly?

Yes I do, even at home. But remember, after you wash your hands you immediately touch the door hardware that some unsanitary slob touched just before you. Not washing is a major cause of spreading disease, especially in the food handling business.

Yes, always wash hands, but don't always dry hands as sometimes there are no paper towels or electric dryers available. If there are paper towels, I will usually use them to turn off the faucets and open the restroom door as well if using a public restroom. After all, those faucets are dirty since people turn them on with dirty hands. Once you wash your hands and they are clean, you just recontaminate them by turning off the faucet with them.

I wash may hands after using the toilet every single time if the bathroom sink works, but while working at Microsoft, I saw several suits that didn't. (And people wonder why I don't like to shake hands or why I use my sleeve or a paper towel to pull open the door when leaving.)

YES, its not just for sanitary reasons, but just plan correct! There are thousands of different kind of diseases, infection one can transmit from ones hand! Your face, mouth, eyes, etc can be affected by unclean, unsanitary hands!

It can also, affect others who come in contact with you! So just do all of us a favor and wash your hands and use the hand towel to open the door of the restroom in order to not reinfect for those who don't wash!!!!

Not absolutely necessary. There is a general belief that those who try to be overly clean end up being very intolernat to bacteria and therefore get sick more often. I tend to believe this as i see lot of poor people who dont get sick like I do when I get wet in the rain or eat from food stalls for swim in a public pool. My system is not used to the bacteria. So you ask why? Maybe I should allow my system to some bad bacteria and let it fight it naturally. Make sense?

Yes, it helps prevent the spread of diease and is generally the most courteous thing you can do if you're going to be shaking hands with anyone. It's also required in restaurants.
