I'm an atheist but even I know that tasting food breaks the fast.

No matter how hard you try you will swallow some part of the food

salaam 1) before fajr you eat and then begin your fast with you say Wa bisawmi ghadinn nawaiytu min shahri ramadan (I intend to keep the fast today in the month of Ramadan) and dont eat as the fajr begins you open your fast after maghrib as the adan for maghrib is read you say Allahumma inni laka sumtu wa bika aamantu wa 'ala rizq-ika aftarthu (O Allah! I fasted for You and I believe in You and I break my fast with Your sustenance) and then you break your fast with a few dates and water and you pray then you have your full dinner 2) you can taste it by the tip of your tongue but wash your mouth straight after tasting is so it does not go down , but if you have the intention of just preparing a delicious dish for iftaar and not eating then your fast will be accepted jazaqallah al'khayir salam and coming happy ramadan and eid

no idea mate...according to some it breaks fast. according to others it doesn't. i think it breaks the fast. if you're looking for a definite answer go to islamonline.net and ask the scholars.

cleaning teeth is okay because you're doing it to clean. you shouldn't swallow any of the toothpaste and so on. swallowing something breaks the fast.

I don't think it does. The actual swallowing is counted. Most of all your intentions at the time. If you are fasting and you intended to eat your fast is broken.
On the other hand you are fasting and you ate something but did not intend to your fast is not broken.

This is not an answer to your question, but it should provide you with some insight into the hard-core world of Islam.

I worked with a guy who was a serious muslim. He prayed facing Mecca 3 times a day at work - I walked into my office one day and he was using it for prayer. That was a bit uncomfortable. Anyway, he ate some food that one of the employees brought into work and didn't realize that it contained pork. When he was informed of this, he went into the mens room to vomit.

When we would order Pizza from Domino's, he would order a cheese pizza, unsliced, and he would cut it himself when it arrived. He didn't want the pizza slicer that Domino's uses to touch his pizza after it possibly touched a pizza that contained pork sausage.
